Office Building at the Gasometer »Eagle and Ant«, Vienna

Assignment
As part of an innovative building concept, the useful area with natural light of the office building »Eagle and Ant« was maximized. In order to enable future tenants to use the rooms with the highest degree of flexibility, an A/C system with displacement air was chosen. As a requirement of the Commerz Grundbesitz Investment Gesellschaft mbH, this displacement air system was to be optimized to ensure thermal comfort according to German Standard DIN 1946/2 or Austrian Standard Ö-Norm H6000 even in case of high, area-specific cooling loads.

Solution
In the LTG R&D Center, a typical office room section with all flow technology relevant details was rebuilt full size. Room flow testing with fan coil units showed the expected increased temperature gradients at maximum cooling load. The LTG mixed/displacement air system quickly reduces the temperature difference in the mixed area close to the sill and spreads into the occupied zone at low speed.

Advantage
The mixed/displacement air provides the required temperature stratification of < 2 K while ensuring agreeable air speeds.
